Rules for 16U Michigan Major Elite (updated 7-12-11)

1. Entry fee is (non-refundable).
2. The official rules will be the “USSSA baseball rules” except where modified.
3. Metal cleats are allowed.
4. Game time is forfeit time. Please have your team warmed up and ready to play.
5. All teams are scheduled for (4) games in a pool play format with a championship game.
6. This is a 60/90 event.
7. THERE WILL BE NO SUNFLOWER SEEDS ALLOWED AT EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY! ANY TEAM CAUGHT USING SUNFLOWER SEEDS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE REMAINDER OF THE EVENT, WITH NO REFUND ISSUED.
8. All games will be seven (7) innings with a 2 hr time limit. No inning will start after this time. No time limit in the championship round.
9. Eight (8) run slaughter rule after five (5) innings of play, twelve (12) run slaughter rule after four (4) innings of play or 15 runs after three (3).
10. There are no limits on pitching.
11. We will take the all pool winners and three (3) wildcard teams to the championship round. All other teams will play a consolation game on Sunday.
12. Courtesy runner for catchers and pitchers at coach’s discretion. In all cases, the courtesy runner must be the player that made the last out, or a player that is not in the batting order. NO EXCEPTIONS!
13. Mandatory slide rule at all bases. A player must try to avoid contact. This will be at the discretion of the umpires.
14. $50.00 cash non-refundable protest fee.
15. Flip for home team. Home team MUST keep the “official book”. The results will be posted after each game. Once posted, it is final. It is also the responsibility of both teams to review final score. In bracket play, the higher seed has choice.
16. No glass containers will be allowed in the dugout. EACH TEAM IS ALLOWED ONE TEAM COOLER IN THE DUGOUT BUT NO OTHER COOLERS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BALL PARK. NO PETS ALLOWED!!
17. NO SMOKING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PARKS!!
18. The head coach is responsible for the behavior of his team, coaches, parents, and fans.
19. The umpires are in charge of the game. Excessive arguing or abuse will not be tolerated. The umpire’s decision on any judgment call is final. Rule interpretation can be discussed with a tournament director.
20. Please trade lineups fifteen (15) minutes before game time to the official scorekeeper.
21. Ejection of a player or coach will result in suspension for the remainder of that game and the next scheduled game. This will be removal from the game site. Any second offense will result in being banned from the complex for the remainder of the tournament.
22. For tiebreakers, run differential scoring will be capped at 8 (eight) runs. Ties will be broken in the following order. Head to head play, runs allowed, runs scored, run differential and flip of the coin.
23. Games cannot end in a tie, except in consolation play.  Any additional inning will be played using the international tiebreaker format. (The last made out will be placed on 2nd base with no outs). The international tiebreaker will not be used in the championship game.
24. Provide a “Certificate of Liability Insurance” for your team. Please have player proof of age with you. The tournament has invited you because of your ethics and skills. Therefore we will not check proof of age, but any team has the option. 
25. Pre-game warm-ups: All team warm-ups will only be allowed in designated warm-up areas, or in the outfield. No pre-game practice on any mound or plates. No pre-game in-field practice.
26. EH will not be used in the 16u division. Only a DH may be used and can be used for any player. A team must bat 9.
27. No balk warnings!
