Rules for 13U and Michigan Major Elite (updated 5-15-11)

1. Entry fee is (non-refundable).
2. EACH TEAM WILL BE ALLOWED ONE TEAM COOLER IN THE DUGOUT. NO OTHER COOLERS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BALL PARK.
3. NO PETS ALLOWED.
4. The official rules will be the “USSSA baseball rules” except where modified.
5. Metal cleats are allowed.
6. Game time is forfeit time. Please have your team warmed up and ready to play.
7. All teams are scheduled for (4) games in a pool play format with a championship game.
8. Base paths will be 80’ and the pitching distance is 54’, with the fence 300’.
9. All games will be seven (7) innings with a 2hr time limit. No inning will start after this time. No time limit in the championship round.
10. We will take back all the pool winners along with five wild card teams to the championship round. The remaining teams will play a consolation game on Sunday.
11. Eight (8) run slaughter after five (5) innings of play, twelve (12) run slaughter rule after four (4) innings of play or 15 runs after three (3).
12. Pitching guidelines are as follows: Twelve (12) innings cumulative for the duration of the tournament. One (1) out is considered 1/3 inning.
13. Courtesy runner for catchers and pitchers at coach’s discretion. In all cases, the courtesy runner must be the player that made the last out, or a player that is not in the batting order. NO EXCEPTIONS!
14. Mandatory slide rule at all bases. A player must try to avoid contact. This will be at the discretion of the umpires.
15. $50.00 cash non-refundable protest fee.
16. Flip for home team. Home team MUST keep the “official book”. Pitching cards for each game will be filled out by the umpire and require both coach’s signature. The results will be posted after each game. Once posted, it is final. It is also the responsibility of the visiting team to review pitching form. In bracket play, the higher seed HAS CHOICE.
17. No glass containers will be allowed in the dugout. NO COOLERS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BALL PARK. NO PETS ALLOWED!!
18. NO SMOKING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PARKS!!
19. The head coach is responsible for the behavior of his team, coaches, parents, and fans.
20. The umpires are in charge of the game. Excessive arguing or abuse will not be tolerated. The umpire’s decision on any judgment call is final. Rule interpretation can be discussed with a tournament director.
21. Please trade lineups fifteen (15) minutes before game time to the official scorekeeper.
22. Ejection of a player or coach will result in suspension for the remainder of that game and the next scheduled game. This will be removal from the game site. Any second offense will result in being banned from the complex for the remainder of the tournament.
23. For run diff tiebreakers, all scoring will be capped at 8 (eight) runs. Ties will be broken in the following order. Head to head play, runs allowed, runs scored, and flip of the coin.
24. Games cannot end in a tie, except in consolation play. Any additional inning will be played using the international tiebreaker format. (The last made out will be placed on 2nd base with no outs). The international tiebreaker WILL NOT be used in the championship game.
25. Provide a “Certificate of Liability Insurance” for your team. Please have player proof of age with you. The tournament has invited you because of your ethics and skills. Therefore we will not check proof of age, but any team has the option. 
26. Pre-game warm-ups: All team warm-ups will only be allowed in designated warm-up areas, or in the outfield. No pre-game practice on any mound or plates. No pre-game in-field practice.
27. Each team can bat 9, 10 or their entire roster – nothing in between (i.e. 14 players on roster can’t bat 13)
28. No balk warnings!
